HJIS first opened in April 2003 in Yokohama and currently enrols students from preschool to high school in its Yokohama Campus. Last year we purchased a new school campus in Sendai, Izumi ward and applied for school accreditation to Miyagi Prefectural Government. Accreditation procedure has recently been finalized and we will be opening our new campus from April 2012.
At our first year we will admit students from age 3 through 5 to Preschool and Kindergarten. Our aim is to establish a dynamic school community representing different nationalities and cultures which will give us a great mixture of different experiences, making HJIS Sendai Campus a stimulating place for all involved.
At Horizon we are planning to offer a comprehensive education for all of our students and follow an international curriculum which is based on the British National Curriculum across all disciplines.
Horizon will maintain a high teacher to student ratio, and small class sizes mean our teachers will individualise every lesson to the needs and abilities of each student. In our classes, we will also strive to promote independent thought, initiative, and individuality. We will continuously teach the importance of positive behaviour between students- cultivating them as world citizens of the future.
