Shoplifting crimes in Japan tend to be committed mostly by school kids or youths. In my neighbourhood, the convenience store has a ban (enforced by the neighbourhood school) on school kids in uniform from my son’s public middle school. According to the local police, shoplifters from the school were caught shoplifting at the store.
