Akita and other prefectures that scored well on last year’s nationwide school achievement tests conducted by the Education, Science and Technology Ministry retained their high ranking this year.

Akita Prefecture retained its top position in many subjects.

The only primary school in Ikawamachi, central Akita Prefecture, received its achievement test results from the prefectural board of education on Friday. The municipal primary school has 289 students. The town has a population of about 5,770.

The average percentage of correct answers by the school’s students in Japanese and mathematics was on the same level as the prefecture’s averages for questions that test basic knowledge and applied skills.
