The company in August became the second-largest shareholder in Gakken, a publisher with an extensive catalog of educational titles. Index, which describes itself as the “operator of a lifestyle portal site,” is looking specifically into allowing English learners to download video text at home via broadband, while sending personalized content to their mobile phone.
